Mike competed in the Street Stock division at the Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, where he continued to race for the next year and a half with moderate success.

This year marked Sweeney's first year of competition in the Late Model division at Mahoning. Making his first start mid season, he was awarded "Rookie of the Year" honors and finished 13th in the points standings.

This was the first full season for Mike in a Late Model at Mahoning. He led the division in wins and was voted "Most Popular Driver". He was also named "Most Improved Driver" and finished as the runner up in the points standings.

Mike suffered a hard crash on lap 22 of opening day at Mahoning. With a broken leg, Mike was forced to sit out the first half of the season. however, he rebounded from injury and with a rebuilt racecar he came back to score three wins and still managed to finish 6th in the points standings. Once again, he was voted "Most Popular Driver". Mike also made his first career start in the "Race of Champions" at Oswego Speedway and finished third in the feature.

Mike made his return to Mountain Speedway for a new challenge. With stellar and consistent runs all season, he finished off the year with a second place points effort. He was also named "Rookie of the Year" and won the seasons "Hard Charger" award.

Focused for another season in the Late Model at Mountain Speedway, Mike had one goal in mind- for him and his team to win a championship. After a long and trying year, the team accomplished just that. Along with his championship trophy at the year ending banquet, Mike also received the "Most Improved Driver" award and he also received an award from the popular "Checkered Flag Fan Club".

This season marked Sweeney's second straight championship in the Late Model division at Mountain Speedway. In an unbelievable season, Mike once again received his huge championship trophy and yet another award from the Checkered Flag Fan Club. He was also named as the "Most Popular Driver" in his division.

Sweeney and his team tried for the hat trick at Mountain Speedway and came up just a little short on their third straight championship. They walked away with a handful of wins and a second place finish in the points. With 12 top ten finishes that season, Mike was named "Most Popular Driver" once again.

Mike and his crew hoped for another title shot this season, but lady luck didn't shine on the former Mountain Speedway champion. The team fought set up issues early in the year and then Sweeney's season went up in smoke, as his engine expired in early June. Sweeney could have thrown an uncompetitive engine together to finish out the season, but he opted to sit back and focus for 2012.

- Sweeney Racing mainly concentrated at Mahoning Valley Speedway. After several top 5 finishes to start off the season, Sweeney decided to purchase another Late Model. With a couple of short weeks into the new ride, Sweeney rattled off three straight victories and finished out the year with a fourth win. Despite missing a handful of events, he still managed to finished as the runner up in the points.

The 2013 season is nearly underway and Mike and his entire team are thrilled to a fresh start. Mike's focus will be on the Mahoning Valley Speedway but he and his team hope to run multiple speedways with the hopes of visiting victory lane in the #D11 Ford Fusion!
